REINTRODUCING JOE TANN
Known to most as Barefoot Joe, the soulful storyteller and rising star in the country music world, the multi-talented artist is stepping up to the plate with a bold new chapter. Reintroducing his original musical identity as JOE TANN, the seasoned singer-songwriter has worked tirelessly to complete a new album titled UNFINISHED BUSINESS.
A HISTORY
In 2007, Joe Tann teamed up with hip-hop producer, Joseph “Knoq Harda” Wright from Virginia Beach and co-founded the record label, Evolution Music Group, LLC. They were a powerful and talented production team, and in 2009, they released Joe Tann’s debut album, Nothing to Lose.
Joe Tann found radio success in the Virginia Beach trip-city area, especially with his single, More Than You Know. Joe Tann’s Night Life featured hip hop duo, The Clipse, most known for their collaborations with mega producer, Pharrell Williams.
Joe Tann was featured on hip-hop rap legend, Skillz’s (formerly, Mad Skillz) breakout single, Enjoying the View, which was featured on VH1 Soul for over a year.
Joe Tann opened for several big artists including John Legend, Carl Thomas, and Dru Hill.
Tragically, Joe walked away from “Joe Tann”, seemingly forever, painfully closing this chapter in his life to focus on his family. “It was one of the most difficult and painful times in life, because I was really saying goodbye to a part of me.”
What’s next?
Now that Barefoot Joe has wrapped up recording his follow up album, A Young Man’s Dream, he began to reflect on the long-lost chapter in his life, Joe Tann. After sharing a catalog of unfinished ideas, concepts, and demos with his friends and family, they encouraged him to go back and finish what he started as Joe Tann.
Unsure of how reconcile his artistry as “Barefoot Joe” and his legacy as “Joe Tann”, he looked to others in the industry like Post Malone, Morgan Wallen, Bruno Mars, and Jelly Roll. He ultimately concluded that this was a perfect opportunity to show fans, old and new, who he is as a songwriter - a versatile artist unbound by the constraints of genre and expectations.
“Music is in my blood and there are so many ways that I want to express myself as an artist and a songwriter. Releasing a new Joe Tann album allows me to share a different side of me, and provides a glimpse into what differentiates me as an artist.”
Barefoot Joe, the artist formerly known as, and now reintroduced as Joe Tann, is proud to unveil that he is working on a new album called, UNFINISHED BUSINESS. The seasoned singer-songwriter is set to release the first of several songs, “Knock It Out The Park,” on July 25, 2025 — a seductive R&B/Hip-Hop anthem that hits with both swagger and sensuality.
